Kyle Busch Motorsport’s John Hunter Nemechek is happy about his start of the 2021 campaign and is determined to win the title this year.
John Hunter Nemechek has come back to the Truck Series from the Cup Series this season and it seems like that the gamble is paying off. The no.4 Kyle Busch Motorsports truck driver has finished in the top 10 in every race in 2021. After the race at Atlanta, the 23-year-old driver from Mooresville, NC spoke about his title potential.
“I think one of the things that Kyle [Busch] and I talked about when I first came over to Kyle Busch Motorsports last year was to kind of have that championship mindset – if you can’t win, you want to maximize your points. […] You’ve got to finish the best that you possibly can”, Nemechek told ASN Motorsports.
“To kind of have the win under our belt already, it’s a security, but that doesn’t change our mindset. We want to go out and win every single thing that we can. We’re in #HereForWin”, he added.
Nemechek’s goals were pretty simple – to win the title: “I feel good about our performance, our mindset is obviously on the championship, to be in that final four at Phoenix at the year-end finale. Two more stage wins – that’s two more Playoffs points and I think we opened up our points lead by quite a bit, so going for the regular season championship and overall and we’re in the mindset to continue to try to do that.”
John Hunter Nemechek finished 7th at the Daytona oval, 3rd at the Daytona road course, 1st at Las Vegas, and 3rd at Atlanta. He also scored the biggest amount of points so far – 204.
