Red Bull’s advisor Helmut Marko supposes the Aston Martin’s AMR21 car is very similar to Mercedes’ F1 W12 car based on testing perofrmance.
The Formula 1 pre-season testing has been a challenging one for both Mercedes and Aston Martin. Both teams have struggled with the car balance and suffered from the same gearbox issues. Helmut Marko believes that this shows Aston Martin’s and Mercedes’ cars are identical, like last year.
“Second Mercedes, Aston Martin have also had problems similar to the Brackley team from the side of transmission”, Helmut Marko tells Motorsport Magazin.
Marko has also emphasized that Mercedes are able to deal with the issues related to the stability of the car ahead of the start of the season, which will probably benefit Aston Martin too: “This is a strong team and there are 14 days left before the first race. We can suggest that those issues will be solved to a greater extend.”
