Team Penske announced via Twitter Monday morning that Austin Cindric will be pulling double-duty this weekend at Atlanta.
After coming off his second win in the Xfinity Series, Cindric will get his second career start in the NASCAR Cup Series. He will once again be in the number 33 car for Team Penske, with crew chief Samuel Stanley atop the pit box.
His first Cup Series start came earlier this year at the Daytona 500 when he started 39th, but finished an impressive 15th after crashing at the end of the race. With the lack of practice and qualifying this year, being able to run in the Xfinity race definitely gives drivers an advantage heading into Sunday’s Cup race, even with the different car packages.
The Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 will take place next Sunday, March 21st, at 3pm EST at Atlanta Motor Speedway.
