Valtteri Bottas has shared the information that the rear end of Mercedes 2021 challenger brings some challenges.
The Formula 1 pre-season testing has put some pressure on the reigning champions Mercedes. Both Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas have faced numerous problems, including difficult handling of the car. It is obvious that both drivers struggle and battle with the car. The reason for that is likely to be unstable rear end of F1 W12. Valtteri Bottas has given as insight on it and what is not so good about it.
“It’s a bit more windy conditions than we’ve had normally at the race,” Bottas said. But still, I would say one of the big issues with the car is the rear end. It’s quite snappy and it’s quite unforgiving. That topped up with the new tires, that they feel quite sensitive to the sliding, it’s not that easy”, Bottas says.
Valtteri Bottas has also added that Mercedes is working to find the solution: “We are kind of trying to calm the car down a bit and that way trying to get some more pace.”
Despite the difficulties, Valtteri Bottas went on to set the fastest lap of day 2 of testing – 1:30.289.
