Alpine Racing looks back on a successful test weekend.
On the last day, Alpine was able to record 9th and 13th place respectively, which is not that significant, but it shows increases compared to last year (then still Renault).
The target of 130 laps per day was reached steadily and the lap times became better and better. In the end, Fernando Alonso (on the C4 tires) was a good 1.5 seconds behind Max Verstappen.
The new setup changes worked very well. But the focus was on getting the drivers adjusted to the new car and letting them get used to it.
Alpine still remains cautious because they don’t know what the other teams’ program looked like, but they remain confident.
Marcin Budkowski, Alpine’s Executive Director, said:
“Each team has had its own program, so we won’t see what each one has before the first race in two weeks. That said, we focus on ourselves and feel well prepared for the start of the season.”
In two weeks, start of the season, we will know more. How well Alpine will do there remains very interesting.
