After a difficult 2020 season, Guenther Steiner expects that the modified Ferrari power unit will be much better in 2021.

The 2020 Formula 1 campaign was quite challenging for Ferrari and its supplier teams because of the problems with the power unit. Ferrari, Haas, and Alfa Romeo had a significant downfall in their performance because of that. However, this year the situation is set to change as Ferrari has made updates to the power unit to deal with all the issues. Haas team principal Guenther Steiner thinks that the new PU will be effective.

“[Ferrari] made a good step. I haven’t seen any data yet – we will just see that one in Bahrain – but supposedly there is a good step forward this year and hopefully we can put it into results”, Steiner says ahead of the pre-season testing.

The new Haas VF-21 car will hit the track for the first time on Friday at the F1 pre-season testing in Bahrain. It will also be the first time the car is fired up because of the COVID-19 travel restrictions.
