Roper Racing has announced via Twitter that Chase Briscoe will be piloting the number 04 truck at this year’s Bristol dirt race in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series.

The 23-year-old driver is a no stranger to driving in the truck series at dirt races, he has raced at Eldora from 2017-2019 and won the race in 2018. He also has not finished outside the top 10 in any of those races, proving he is a strong competitor in the trucks on dirt. Not only has he had success on dirt, but the last time he ran at Bristol he won in the Xfinity Series back in September.

While team owner, Cory Roper, normally drives the no.04 truck, Briscoe’s proven track record on dirt, and at Bristol, makes logical sense for the move as both elements converge.

This will arguably give Briscoe a leg-up on the competition when it’s time for him to drive his number 17 car in the Cup Series, where more track time could give him an advantage in both his heat race, and the main event.

The Truck Series dirt race at Bristol Motor Speedway will take place on Saturday, March 27th.
