Shane Golobic will take his sprint car driving expertise to Bristol’s dirt track for Live Fast Motorsport’s number 78 car. The team announced via its social media channels and website that Matt Wood Racing has entered the veteran sprint car driver for the Cup Series’ first dirt race since the ’70s.

The two teams have partnered to get a dirt racer driving in his first Cup Series debut in order to get an edge over other drivers who have no to little dirt racing experience.

Golobic is an accomplished winged and non-winged sprint car driver, racing in big-name events and series such as the Chili Bowl A-Main, World of Outlaws, USAC National Midget Feature, and Civil War Series. He has also made three starts in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West for Bill McAnally Racing back in 2013, with his best finish being 8th.

Live Fast Motorsports co-owner, BJ McLeod said: “We are so excited to work with Matt Wood and have Shane in the car at the Bristol dirt race. The race itself is going to be nothing short of entertaining, so to have Shane behind the wheel of our car makes it even more special for us as a new NASCAR Cup Series team.”

This will be a giant step-up for the 29-year old from Fremont, California, who has only been on the national stage for dirt track races and in NASCAR’s lower K&N Pro Series.

The Food City Dirt Race at Bristol Motor Speedway will be on Sunday, March 28th at 3:30pm EST.
