Bristol Motor Speedway and NASCAR revealed information about lineups for the heat races, pit stops, and earned points, for their first dirt race in over 50 years.
Each lineup for the heat races will be set by random draw. To determine the official starting lineups, it will be decided by heat race finish and a number of passing points. Passing points are positions gained from the initial starting position. When a driver moves forward, passing points are gained, if they finish where they started or go backward, that results in zero points. A tiebreaker will be determined by owner points.
One thing the Cup series hasn’t seen in a while is no live pit stops. A driver can only bring the car down pit road in-between stages. All teams will be given a certain amount of time to repair any damage and repair the car. If a team opts to stay out, they will start ahead of who came into the pits. Each team will be able to have 4 sets of tires.
Catch the first NASCAR Cup dirt race on March 28th, at 3:30pm.
