Jean Éric-Vergne has lost his podium spot of round 2 of the Formula E Championship after a penalty was imposed for failing to use his second Attack Mode.

The race had restarted after a Safety Car period. With eight minutes to go, an incident on the track caused the full course yellow to deploy, later converting into a Safety Car which then led to a red flag and the termination of the race.

This means Vergne was not able to deploy his second attack mode, with the FIA awarding him a 24-second time penalty, dropping him to 12th, 29 seconds behind winner Sam Bird.

Tom Blomqvist and Rene Rast were blamed for committing the same Fan Boost offense and received the same penalty as Vergne.

However, they also received an additional 24 seconds for driving above the 50km/h limit during the full course yellow.

All of these penalties from the FIA are final and not susceptible to appeal.
