Alfa Romeo Racing has released their 2021 Formula 1 machine, the C41, during an event at the National Theatre in Warsaw, Poland on Monday.
The car launch was streamed live on Sauber Motorsport’s YouTube channel, also including a brief overview of the team’s preparation for the upcoming start to the 2021 season.
The reveal comes after the display of McLaren’s and AlphaTauri’s cars over the past week, the Swiss crew becoming the third manufacturer to reveal their car’s new look for 2021.
The Alfa Romeo C41’s sleek design wears the same colour scheme as the previous two years – white and red – as the team has remained in collaboration with their title sponsor PKN Orlen.
Technical director Jan Monchaux revealed that the team invested their two tokens into a new nose and crash box, as well as significant development of the front wing, the front suspension and bargeboard. He also stated that elements of the car such as the chassis and gearbox were relatively similar if not the same as last year’s vehicle.
“2022 is really going to be a new era for the techniques in Formula 1, and it is a great opportunity for us, as a relatively small team, to try to catch up with the rest of the field,” Monchaux remarked during an interview at the car launch. “So it’s going to be a crucial year for us.”
Kimi Raikkonen and Antonio Giovinazzi, the same duo that comprised last year’s Alfa Romeo roster, will race the new C41 this season as Robert Kubica continues to serve as the reserve driver for the team.
The next 2021 Formula 1 car to be unveiled will be Red Bull Racing’s RB16B on Tuesday 23 February.
