Current Xfinity series driver for Stewart-Haas Racing, Riley Herbst, will be filling in for Taylor Gray in the number 17 car this week for DGR at the Daytona Road Course.
Team owner David Gilliand drove the 17 car last week at Daytona, finishing 14th after leading for 8 laps. Riley Herbst drove full-time in the Xfinity Series for Joe Gibbs Racing in the number 18 car in 2020 before switching over to SHR in the number 98 car after JGR signed Daniel Hemric to replace him this season.
Herbst is no stranger to the Truck series, having driven for top-tier team Kyle Busch Motorsports as well as DGR on and off in 2018 and 2019, with the best finish of P3 at Talledega.
DGR has high hopes this year, after signing Hailie Deegan to drive the number 1 truck full time, to get their second-ever Truck Series win. DGR has shown that their Ford trucks can compete with the best of them out there, after finishing the year with 9 top-tens in only 30 races.
The BrakeBest Pads 159 at the Daytona Road Course will air on Friday, February 19th at 7:30 p.m. EST on FS1 and MSN.
