Bubba Wallace’s new crew chief is glad about how the season has started.
The Speedweeks has become the first real opportunity for the new Cup Series team 23XI Racing to try themselves in racing conditions. The driver of the no.23 Toyota Camry Bubba Wallace also got to work with the new crew chief Mike Wheeler. The crew chief commented on how things went in terms of cooperating with Wallace in the first days of the 2021 season.
“It’s been easy to have those conversations of ‘hey, what to work on’. It’s not about just turning the steering wheel. It’s about all the things you’ve got to do – on the pit road, restarts, watching your mirrors, communicating, adjustments,” Wheeler said. “Bubba is aware it’s not just that easy and he’s been a part of the process of getting better and he must improve himself.”
Bubba Wallace finished his first Cup Series points race for 23XI Racing 17th after being involved in a wreck at the final lap of the 63rd Daytona 500.
