The no.99 ThorSport Racing truck made it to the victory lap at the World Center of Racing.
The 2021 NASCAR Truck Series season officially started at Daytona International Speedway and it definitely was a race to watch. The first caution of the day was out before the cars even made it to turn 1 – James Buescher, Gus Dean, and Derek Kraus were involved in a weck. After the green flag was back in the air, the pole winner Johnny Sauter led the race, but then lost it. Raphael Lessard went on to win Stage 1.
Friday was a bad day indeed for Derek Kraus as he was involved in several incidents and damaged his truck even more. The race lead was changing back and forth and at one moment it was John Hunter Nemechek at the top of the pack. Eventually, Kyle Busch Motorsports’ newest driver took the green-white chequered flag in Stage 2.
Things got heated up in the Final Stage. The closing part of the race had a lot of big wrecks, including the one on the final lap of the race. Ben Rhodes was the one who got through every incident and, as a result, won the opening race of the season in a crazy finish. Jordan Anderson got involved in one of the incidents, but that did not stop him from finishing second. Cory Roper also had the race of his life as he crossed the finish line third, his first career top 3 finish. Ryan Truex and Carson Hocevar completed the top 5 of the event.
