The winner of the Truck Series race at Daytona is happy with how the season kicked off.
Friday was a day to remember for Ben Rhodes – the no.99 ThorSport Racing truck driver got through all the wrecks and incidents through the course of the race and eventually won the opening race of the 2021 NASCAR Truck Series season in a very close finish. After the race, Rhodes was incredibly happy about the result and spoke about how important it was to start the season with a victory in terms of title battle later this year.
“We’re in the Playoffs now,” Rhodes said. “It is so hard to make the Playoffs. Our Truck Series here is so tense with competition. I don’t know if people appreciate how hard it is to make it. It’s incredibly tough. And now we’re locked in [the Playoffs]…”
“The season started off right, we’ve got momentum on our side. We’re in the top position, we’re going to keep it that way. We just [need] no mistakes, keep calm, cool collected. Even if we lose the top spot in the race, we’ll get it back, that’s the great thing about being locked in – the pressure’s off and you can focus on dealing you”, he added.
“I don’t know is there’s any better race to take the pressure off [than at Daytona]. You are starting off the season, you’re at the biggest race of the year… It means so much to me. I’m just happy for everybody involved, I am”, Ben Rhodes concluded.
Ben Rhodes is the first driver to clinch a Playoffs spot in the Truck Series after his win at Daytona on Friday.
