It is believed that returning Formula 1 driver Fernando Alonso is set to undergo surgery on his teeth following a road incident.
2021 Alpine F1 driver Fernando Alonso was involved in a collision with a car near Lugano, Switzerland while out on a training ride on Thursday, according to a report by Italy’s Gazzetta dello Sport.
The Spaniard was rushed to hospital, before Alpine later issued a statement assuring that the two-time F1 champion was conscious and “well in himself”.
Now, the public has some idea of Alonso’s injuries, with various sources revealing that the returning F1 driver is set to be transferred to a hospital in Bern. There, he will undergo minor surgery for a broken jaw.
Early indications, while not yet confirmed, have been that Fernando Alonso did not sustain any further fractures or injuries as a result of the collision, but he is set to be properly examined later on Friday.
