Martin Truex Jr. signs contract extension with Joe Gibbs Racing

Truex Jr. will stay in the organisation beyond 2022.

Martin Truex Jr. stays with Joe Gibbs Racing. Two days into the Speedweeks it has been confirmed that the 2017 NASCAR Cup Series champion will stay behind the steering wheel of the no.19 Toyota Camry after the 2021 season. Several days later he mentioned that the negotiations were going well and now it was proven.

The team owner Joe Gibbs commented on the announcement: “Extending Martin’s agreement has been a big priority for us this off season. Martin brings so much to our organization. Obviously he’s talented and shown he can win at any racetrack but his insights also helps to make all our teams better.”

In the 2020 Cup Series season Martin Truex Jr. had 1 win, 14 top 5s, 23 top 10s, and finished 7th in the drivers’ standings.
