The new no.48 Hendrick Motorsports car driver wants the season to start.

Alex Bowman’s career has taken another huge step ahead of the 2020 NASCAR Cup Series season. The 27-year-old from Tucson, AZ replaced the 7-time champion Jimmie Johnson behind the steering wheel of the no.48 Chevrolet Camaro. Before that, he drove the no.88 car, the car, which Dale Earnhardt Jr. made famous. Bowman shared how he felt being the part of these legacies.

“It’s been really cool, obviously”, said Bowman. “Stepping to the 88, have everything happen in crazy set circumstances and having a lot of support from Dale [Earnhardt Jr.] to get that ride and end up taking a year off and ending up in the 88 car full-time for Hendrick Motorsports was really cool. To get that car back in the victory lane and have the success we had with it was amazing.”

The 2-time Cup Series race winner also told about how his experience with the new crew was so far: “I was definitely nervous when Mr. H [Rick Hendrick] first told me – you’ve got to never know [how it goes] working with a new partner and how all that is going to be but working with Ally has been so much fun so far, I’ve really enjoyed it.”

“Honestly, I just want to get on the racetrack and do my job, the part of my job that I’m at least a little bit good at. I’m just ready to go. It’s going to be a lot of fun”, Bowman said in the end.

Alex Bowman will get his first experience of driving the no.48 car tomorrow night at the Busch Clash at Daytona’s road course.
