The World Anti-Doping Agency has banned Russia from taking part in sports events for two years — Until December 16 of 2022.

According to the decision, Russians are prohibited from using the country’s flag and anthem at the Olympics, Paralympics and World Championships, World Cups and any other competition that includes a points system. Formula 1, as a World Championship, falls in this category.

This means Nikita Mazepin -the newly signed driver for Haas that made the headlines for multiple controversies- will not be allowed to race under the Russian nationality nor play the Russian anthem should he score a podium.

This means that the driver will most probably race under the neutral flag (from the Authorised Neutral Athlete program, which was created after Russian doping scandals) for the 2021 season and beyond.
