Adrián Campos, founder and president of Campos Racing, has passed away aged 60. The cause of death was caused by a sudden aortic dissection.
Adrián was born in June 1960 in Alcira, Spain. He was a Formula 1 driver for the Minardi team in the 1987 and 1988 seasons after finishing third in the German Formula 3 Championship.
Campos founded his team in 1998, first as “Adrián Campos Motorsport,” now known as Campos Racing. The team has participated in series such as Formula 2 and Formula 3 (and its predecessors, GP2 & GP3), as well as the World Touring Car Championship and others.
The Campos Racing team has published a brief statement on their social media networks: “Today is the saddest day in the history of Campos Racing. Our president and founder, Adrián Campos Suñer, has left us. His heart stopped beating, but his memory will be the engine that will keep us all fighting to continue his legacy… Rest In Peace.”
